How to Correctly Use AlmaCrawler Lithium Power Packs

Lithium Power Packs from AlmaCrawler represent a significant advancement in energy storage technology, offering users unparalleled efficiency and performance. To ensure you get the most out of your investment while maintaining safety standards, proper usage and maintenance are paramount. This guide outlines essential practices for handling and caring for your Lithium Power Pack, from routine maintenance tips to safety precautions during operation and storage. By following these guidelines , you can safeguard your equipment, extend its lifespan, and optimize its performance for years to come.

1. MAINTENANCE

Ensuring optimal performance of your Lithium Power Pack requires minimal maintenance, thanks to our advanced technological design. Here’s how you can keep your Power Pack in peak condition:

1.1 Keep It Fully Charged

Whenever possible, maintain a 100% charge on your Power Pack. Our Battery Management System (BMS) oversees the onboard charger, allowing it to remain connected indefinitely without the risk of overcharging.

1.2 Regular Inspection and Maintenance

Every 3-4 months, perform the following checks:

  • Inspect cables, clamps, and casing for any signs of damage or loose connections.
  • Clean the terminals and connectors to ensure optimal conductivity.
  • Replace or clean the air filters to maintain proper ventilation.

1.3 Routine Testing

Use a voltmeter to test the Power Pack regularly. This will help you catch any potential issues early and ensure consistent performance.

1.4 Extended Storage Tips

  • Recharge every 2-3 weeks if your PRiMO aerial platform remains idle for extended periods without disconnecting the Power Pack.
  • Ensure a minimum 50% charge before disconnecting the Power Pack or the charger when there’s no AC grid power available.
  • When disconnecting from the aerial platforms’s electrical system, maintain at least a 50% state of charge (SoC) and recharge every 5-6 weeks.

2. POWER PACK STORAGE

If the machine is in storage or used infrequently, disconnect the Power Pack cable to eliminate drain from electrical equipment. For extended storage (eight / ten months) charge to 100% before reuse. This charging can last for 5/7 days due to the long period of stop.

Make sure Power Packs are stored out of reach of children.

For optimal performance and safety of your Power Pack, always use the charger specifically supplied with your unit. Avoid using battery maintainers, battery tenders, fast chargers, or any other similar devices, as these are not compatible with our Power Packs. Do not charge the battery beyond the maximum voltage indicated.

Regularly inspect the external terminals and metal case of your Power Pack for any signs of damage or abnormal wear that may have occurred during use. If you notice anything unusual or have any concerns about the condition of your Power Pack, do not hesitate to contact our Customer Service team for assistance.

For your safety, never remove the Power Pack cap, or cut or drill into the Power Pack case, as doing so is extremely dangerous and can cause a short circuit.
Additionally, do not wash or submerge the Power Pack in water or any other conductive liquid, as this also poses a serious risk of short-circuiting.

3. SAFETY

3.1 Proper Clothing

When handling your Power Pack, always wear a face shield or safety goggles to protect yourself. Remove any bracelets, rings, or necklaces, as these items could accidentally cause a short circuit.

3.2 Power Pack Recharge

To ensure safety, do not smoke or create sparks or flames near the Power Pack or its chargers, as this can lead to explosions.

Always adhere to the charging current values recommended in the User Manual. Charging at higher currents can damage the Power Pack and may result in explosions or fire. Remember to turn off the charger before removing the charger clamp to avoid sparks.

3.3 Connection Guidelines

Never connect more than one Power Pack to the machine’s electrical system. Do not connect Power Packs in series or parallel, as this is unsafe and not recommended.

3.4 Best Practices

For optimal performance, use the Power Pack on a daily or weekly basis. When the machine is not in use, keep the Power Pack under charge with the onboard charger. If the onboard Human Machine Interface (HMI) indicates a low state of charge, immediately charge the Power Pack to prevent deep discharge.

Additionally, always leave the Power Pack under charge with the onboard charger during weekends. This practice allows for periodic balancing and ensures the battery’s longevity.

4. SPECIAL WARNINGS

4.1 Interchangeability and Safety of Lithium Power Packs

Our Lithium Power Packs are designed to offer complete interchangeability with Lead Acid Power Packs, thanks to integrated electronics that eliminate the need for additional modifications to your vehicle’s electrical system or alternator.

Important Guidelines for Safe Use

  1. Read Installation and Maintenance Instructions: Before installing or servicing your Power Packs, carefully review the provided instructions to ensure safe and proper operation.
  2. Customer Support: Should you have any questions or encounter issues, our dedicated Customer Service team is ready to assist you.
  3. High Performance with Safety: Lithium Power Packs are equipped with advanced technology cells that deliver exceptional performance while maintaining intrinsic safety features. However, it’s crucial to note that improper use can lead to serious issues such as fires or explosions. Always handle and operate these Power Packs with caution.
  4. Environmental Considerations: To prevent potential hazards, avoid exposing the Power Pack to heat, fire, or microwaves. Direct sunlight should also be avoided, especially when ambient temperatures exceed 60°C, as this can pose a risk of explosion. Additionally, refrain from storing metallic objects inside the Power Pack trunk or alongside other batteries, as this may cause a short circuit.
